TOUCHDEX Guide
Features

Powerful clamping: High rigidity, suitable for high-speed cutting
・Uses a locking pin fixing method, with clamping power approximately 2 to 4 times that of general index tables of the same size.
・Suitable for milling, end milling, drilling and tapping.
・Suitable for high-speed cutting of carbide drills even at positions distant from the center of rotation.

Easy to install: Can also be installed on pallet changers and horizontal machining centers.
・Since there is no power control cable, it can be easily installed on the machine.
・Can be installed on all types of pallet changers.
・If installed on a horizontal machining center, 5-axis machining is possible using only the functions of the machining center.
・5-axis machining is also possible by installing another TOUCHDEX on the TOUCHDEX’s table.

Space-saving: Small size allows two or three units to be used side-by-side.
・No power control cable means minimal space requirements for installation.
・Installation area is about 1/2 that of a standard indexing/indexing table.
・Multiple TOUCHDEX units can be placed side-by-side on a table to perform multi-sided processing of multiple workpieces.

High precision and durability: The high precision is on a par with NC index tables
・Indexing accuracy within ±15 seconds (cumulative)
・Repetition accuracy ±3 seconds
・The unique clamping method maintains high precision even with wear on the locking pins. Backlash is eliminated for semi-permanent use.

Easy to use: No need to change tools for indexing
・The push bar can be pushed with the tool in use as long as it is a rigid tool that can withstand the pushing load (a tool with a diameter of 10 mm or more is a good guide).
・Even when using a thin tool, if it is pushed with the collet holder or spindle cover. As a result, there is no need to change tools for indexing.
Details of each type

FDR type
(2-Way indexing type)
・Rotates clockwise when the right-hand push bar is pushed
・Rotates counterclockwise when the left-hand push bar is pushed
・Reaches the machining surface in a shorter time
・Equipped with an unbalance assist function to handle eccentric workpieces

-360 type
(Minimum indexing angle of 1 degree)
・This is a type with a minimum indexing angle of 1 degree
・By adjusting the depth the push bar is pushed to, indexing can be carried out in 1-degree increments.

FDM type
(for both vertical and horizontal mounting)
・The FDM type allows for easy machining of jigs used on the TOUCHDEX and simple forming of chuck soft jaws.
・The TOUCHDEX can be installed on an inclined table to enable inclined machining.
・If one or two TOUCHDEX units are installed on each side of the horizontal machining center’s tombstone, 20 to 40 faces (5 faces x 4 to 8 units) can be processed at once.

-04 type
(1 Stroke 90 degree indexing rotation)
・Push the push bar down to 90 degree indexing
・Ideal for multi-sided processing of square-shaped workpieces

FD(M)K type
(Rotation locking mechanism as standard equipment)
・The rotation locking mechanism is a function that counteracts the decline in clamping force during indexing rotation by constantly applying a certain amount of friction to the table. It can handle more unbalanced workpieces and jigs.

TILTING TL Type
(5-Axis machining with an automatic tilting rotary table)
・Two TOUCHDEX units are integrated to enable 5-axis machining on a vertical machining center.

VISEDEX FDV type
(3-axis machining of multiple workpieces)
・By attaching the end support and base, it enables 3-axis machining of multiple workpieces at once.
How to set up

How to index
-
Step 1
Move the machining center tool to the top pushbar of the Touchdex.
(As a reference, use a drill with a diameter of approximately 10 mm or larger.) -
Step 2
Use the Z-axis movement of the machining center to press the pushbar with the tool.
-
Step 3
When the pushbar is released, the table is automatically clamped.
The indexing angle of the table changes depending on how much the pushbar is pressed.
The indexing angle can be adjusted by the Z-axis travel amount.
For example, if a full stroke of the pushbar results in a 45-degree table rotation, press the pushbar approximately 5/45 of the stroke to achieve a 5-degree index.
● The minimum indexing angle and the maximum indexing angle at full stroke vary depending on the model.
● The recommended push-down feed rate is F1000. However, reduce the speed if the workpiece is unbalanced. -
Step 4
Please resume machining on the newly indexed surface.
