Kawatatec is a manufacturer of machine tool peripheral equipment in Nara Prefecture with a history of over 90 years since its establishment. The “machine tools” into which our products are integrated are called “mother machines” because they can produce all kinds of machines and parts. The ratio of machine tools made in Japan that are exported overseas is extremely high, and they are known worldwide as cutting-edge products that bring together the best of Japanese technology. Kawatatec manufactures products in three fields that perform the functions of clamping, rotating, and transporting workpieces using machine tools.
This section introduces the main products developed and
manufactured by Kawatatec.
This chuck has four independent jaws that move separately, allowing it to hold not only cylindrical but also rectangular and irregularly shaped workpieces.
A device that holds the workpiece via a manually rotated handle which synchronously moves multiple jaws towards the center axis of the material.
A device that uses the force of hydraulics to simultaneously move multiple jaws towards the center axis to hold the workpiece in place.
A device that uses a mechanism to change the direction of the workpiece to any angle.
Equipment with a machining center that automatically supplies and exchanges workpieces.
Kawatatec is widely known in Japan, Asia and North America as one of the few manufacturers of large lathe chucks in the world. In North America, in particular, our “NOBEL CHUCK” is known as a highly reliable brand that has been around since the 1970s. Below, we will explain in detail what the lathe chuck is.
The object shown in the figure in the upper left is a chuck. A chuck is a tool used to “hold” cylindrical or square materials to be processed by a machine tool. A chuck is required to have a stronger gripping force than the force needed to rotate heavy workpieces such as steel as well as apply a tool to them for processing.
In the photo of the apple being cut in the upper right, the chuck is the “hand” that grips the apple.
"Holding” is one of the most basic elements of processing materials.
